Leather Long Wallet
Veganism and leather?

I have been a vegan for several months now and I have a question. Now, since the time I became a vegan, I haven’t bought any leather, but I do still wear leather shoes and a leather wallet, which I bought long before I went vegan. After my shoes and wallet wear out, I will buy more animal safe products. However, in the mean time, is it really bad to wear leather, even if I am technically not supporting the leather industry by buying it?

Definitely up to you.

When I went vegan I kept anything leather I had previously, as I didn’t think it was right to throw things away animals had suffered for when there was still a lot of use left in them. However, after about a week I felt hypocritical having animal skin in the house, so I donated it all to the salvation army.

I would say, in my opinion, I think it’s worse to throw leather items away when a lot of suffering has went into their production, and some people can’t afford luxuries such as shoes, than to keep up them until they’re worn out and risk people calling you hypocritical. So either keep them or give them to someone else who can make use of them.
